Kevin Cherewaty
Founder & President
Kevin Cherewaty is the Founder and President of Legionella Risk Academy Inc. and the President of HCTS Inc. (Heavy Cooling Tower Services Inc.), a company that has provided specialized cooling tower services, inspections, maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance solutions for over a decade. Through his extensive work within the industry, Kevin has seen firsthand the critical importance of proper water system management and the devastating impact Legionella can have on individuals, organizations, and communities.
As Legionella cases continue to rise across Canada and around the world, Kevin recognized a growing need for practical education, increased awareness, and accessible resources that help organizations understand and reduce risk before problems occur. This realization inspired the creation of Legionella Risk Academy Inc.
Kevin’s mission is to help facility managers, building owners, healthcare organizations, maintenance professionals, and industry stakeholders better understand Legionella risks through education, training, testing solutions, monitoring resources, and proactive water management practices. By sharing knowledge and promoting prevention, he hopes to help organizations make informed decisions that protect building occupants and save lives.

Business Development Manager
Chantal Asselin supports the growth and development of Legionella Risk Academy Inc. through business development, marketing, educational content creation, strategic partnerships, website development, and client engagement initiatives.
With extensive experience in education, coaching, communications, business development, and program creation, Chantal helps transform complex technical information into practical and accessible learning experiences. She has played a key role in the development of the Academy’s training materials, presentations, website content, course framework, marketing initiatives, and educational resources designed to support awareness and proactive risk reduction.
Passionate about the power of education and prevention, Chantal is committed to helping organizations access the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to better understand Legionella risks, strengthen water management practices, and create safer environments for the people they serve.
Melissa Slack
Office Administrator
Melissa Slack provides administrative leadership and operational support for Legionella Risk Academy Inc., helping ensure a professional, organized, and responsive experience for clients, partners, and program participants.
Working closely with the Academy’s leadership team, Melissa supports communications, scheduling, documentation management, client service, and day-to-day operations. Her attention to detail and commitment to organization help keep projects moving forward efficiently while supporting the growth and development of the Academy.
Melissa also plays an important role in gathering research, educational resources, and industry information that support the Academy’s training programs, educational content, and awareness initiatives. Her dedication to accuracy, organization, and continuous learning helps strengthen the Academy’s mission of providing practical knowledge and resources that help organizations better understand and reduce Legionella risk.
